In the first issue of Uprising, the Phoenix Project is almost complete, and tensions between the Assassin’s Brotherhood and the Templar Order are raising high. Basing in the continuous Assassins vs Templars battle, Uprising is a more modern approach to the battle, and opens its pages for a new look into a battle that has been in the eye of fans for a decade. To start, what is Star Trek Discovery Desperate Hours about, and how does it connect, both narratively and chronologically, to the TV show and the Star Trek canon at large?įirst, let’s be clear: Star Trek: Discovery is set in the same canon timeline as The Original Series and all the other Star Trek television series. To coincide with the launch of a new Star Trek series, Star Trek Discovery, the good people at Gallery Books/Simon & Schuster who oversee the literary adventures of Kirk, Picard, and the rest have commissioned longtime Star Trek novelist David Mack to pen the non-canonical prequel novel Star Trek Discovery Desperate Hours ( paperback, digital). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hilderbrand is repped by UTA, InkWell Management, and Kleinberg Lange Cuddy & Carlo. ![]() Some of her works include the bestselling Paradise trilogy, 28 Summers, The Identicals, The Blue Bistro, The Matchmaker, and the Winter series, among many others. 1 New York Times bestselling author who has written over 25 novels, which have sold over 10 million copies collectively. Soon I Will Be Invincible is good, but it has plenty of room for improvement. ![]() Now, to be fair to those three great authors, I'll state explicitly that they all do it better than Grossman. In making an effort not to be too serious, Austin Grossman has created a literary mélange of Douglas Coupland–style humour, characters worthy of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files, and an offbeat sense of plot reminiscent of Terry Pratchett. Sometimes it feels like a comic book, other times it feels like a parody of the superhero/supervillain genre in general. It has an easygoing, tongue-in-cheek style that makes it a pleasure to read.
